I love having locally produced things

Leonard and I pass this statue on our way to kindergarten and someone was kind enough to dress it up in leg warmers. It’s getting chilly now and the time of leg warmers and gloves is here.

The other day I picked up candles that I’ve ordered from Stockholms Ljusstöperi, which is just a few blocks from manos. I love having locally produced things to sell in the shop! Stockholms Ljusstöperi is a wonderful candle maker “factory” and café in one. The candles are hand made by Mimmi and her assistant. I now have their candles in the shop – 23, 30 or 40 cm long.

Happyconfused

The happyconfused rattles are happy on one side and confused on the other – just how I feel sometimes ;)
Designed, screen printed with hand painted details and sewn by Katarina Lund. Beautiful soft toy for small hands or why not treat the cat?

Los Musgoamigos in the window

Our friends from Chile are in the window. I put the exhibition up yesterday and it seems the wonderful dolls by Francisca will rapidly find nice homes in Stockholm!

The dolls have their origin in traditional Latinamerican doll design that Francisca learnt from her grandmother. I love the way knowledge of the hand is carried on through generations – and renewed by using modern shapes, colours and materials. The materials Francisca uses are all left-overs from the textile industry – re-cycled traditional modern dolls!

Lime and mint soap with sea kelp on top of a Leaves dish.

Late summer news from manos: eco friendly soaps from skinnyskinny (not only the soaps are eco savvy, but the whole way they run their business) – for instance “Lemon and Blood orange” and Rose and Black pepper.


Hand thrown porcelain cup with grass or leaves pattern.

I’ve also added two new products from me -a porcelain cup and a small dish.

We’ve been trying out both at home all spring. The cup is quite lovely with coffee or tea or even to just let a rose float in it… On the small dish we have served sushi and chocolate, we’ve used it as soap holder and to put the tea bag on, it’s also great for putting the cooking spoon on while it’s not used for stirring food (the spoon that is). All in all a pretty handy dish.
