manos has been kitted up with a display of my “collection 0809″ and the online shop is also updated with my new work - bowls and small beakers in porcelain with a new glossy glaze.

manos has got a new boutique desk from the 1950’s!
I saw a beautiful curved desk in an article about the General Store in Melbourne several years ago and I’ve been searching for something like it since then. Now, a curved shop desk from the 1950’s isn’t easy to come by in Sweden so I’m really pleased with what I’ve found at last!

More good news from manos is that the vine is thriving after having been ill with a nasty disease that I now know how to treat. Perhaps next year I’ll even get some grapes?

manos has been redecorated with summer and in a couple of weeks I hope that flowering sweet peas will be climbing up the walls of the greenhouse.

There are two glass panels in the floor at manos, covering up large holes in the ground where the quite beautiful looking weeds has taken over. These holes attract a lot of attention, from grown ups and younger people alike. Last weekend two girls were convinced they could see frogs down there amongst the greenery, they even got their dads on their hands and knees looking for the frogs ;)

Once upon a time (1860) when the green house was built there were wood burning stoves in these holes, spreading their warmth in flues under the floor to keep the right climate for the plants.

The private view on Wednesday evening was better than I could have hoped – lots of happy people and they seemed to have planned to spread out their attendance over the evening so that it was a steady flow from start to end. Amazing! I had such a lovely time and thank you thank you for coming and bringing beautiful flowers and gifts!

This seemed like sign – my grape vine decided to come back to life just the in time for the opening :) I hope I’ll get some pictures from my in promptu mingel photographer as the one picture I managed to take all night was of the nibbles (top picture)… Now, I’m mighty proud of them but I think it’d be nice to show you some pictures of manos with people!! In the meantime, here’s a bunch of glimpses from manos first open day. From now on it’s open Thursday to Saturday 11-3 pm.

Yesterday had a kind of magical feel to it. In the afternoon I sat in the spring sun on the bench, leaning my back against the greenhouse and felt like I have the best workspace in the whole world! Come sit with me!

Tomorrow is opening night for manos and I’m almost ready for it! See some glimpses on flickr. It feels good to have the log bowl from Loyal Loot to hold on to and Daniel’s ceramics looks absolutely lovely in the sunshine.

Here’s a moment of peace from my office wall this morning. It’s Tord Boontje’s garland making a beautiful shadow. Apart from that, my days are pretty much jam-packed full of preparations for the opening of manos next week and the usual day to day running of the workshop. When looking out over my greenhouse this afternoon, I must say that it didn’t look like it will be an inspirational and beautiful shop in a weeks time… Whenever I feel I’ve taken on a bit much, I say to myself that it’s good to challenge yourself and this is a little seed of something that will grow and evolve with every day and it doesn’t have to be perfect!
